Bio

I was born in Carmel and have lived in California all my life, except for 9 years in New York City. After graduate school at UC Irvine, I worked as an actor and theatre director, and have been dialect coaching all along.

I now work exclusively as a dialect coach, with a busy private practice coaching clients by phone and in my office just outside Los Angeles. I've worked with actors Nicolas Cage, Julia Ormond, Jim Broadbent, Jennifer Garner, Ryan Phillippe, Samantha Morton, Roger Daltrey, Mike Myers and many others. I also work with people who have a regional or foreign accent who want to learn the American accent.

I enjoy riding my bike, swimming, hanging out with my cat, Milo and neighborhood dogs, though I don't own one.

What's your favorite public radio show?

I really enjoy This American Life, though Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me runs a very close second.

What's your secret talent?

I can roll my stomach like a belly dancer.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

The song from my older daughter's old doll that my younger daughter sings: "I love you the way you are and that will never change."

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

The Pacific Tree Frog, or currently, the male house finch who attacks my bathroom window for about two hours every morning. He seems to be protecting his nearby nest from his own reflection.

What's your favorite sound memory?

The waterfall tumbling into Angora Lake in the Sierras.
