- Bio
Dan Moulthrop is the host of The Sound of Ideas, which airs weekday mornings at nine on WCPN, 90.3 FM, Cleveland, Ohio. He came to Cleveland in 2005, when he took over as local anchor of Morning Edition, which gave him an awesome opportunity to get up at 3 am every day. Prior to squandering his future on the dream of beating Carl Kassell at his own game, Dan lived in the San Francisco Bay area where worked on print, television and video projects, including co-authoring "Teachers Have it Easy: The Big Sacrifices and Small Salaries of America's Teachers" (with Ninive Calegari and Dave Eggers; The New Press, 2005). He holds a masters in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. Before turning to journalism, he taught high school English and a variety of subjects at the San Francisco County Jail. He's got two kids and the wife with an award-winning recipe for spaghetti and meatballs.

Wait Wait Don't Tell Me
- What's your secret talent?
1. I have an inner frog.
2. I make the best espresso on the planet.
- What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?
Just about all of Joshua Radin's album "We Were Here." I think i've OD'd on it.
- What sound is most characteristic of where you live?
My son's laugh. (He's not yet two)
- What's your favorite sound memory?
When I was a kid--probably four or five--my father went on a business trip for a week. So he recorded himself reading Curious George books for me and my brother.
- Which station do you listen to most?
- WCPN. I'm an NPR junkie. Like those cops in the movies: It's not just what I do. It's who I AM!
