Born and raised in Brooklyn, Steven escaped the confines of liberal New York City only to wind up in, even-more-liberal, western Massachusetts. Too far east to be the Berkshires, and too far west to be realistically commutable to Boston, Steven has found a fun-loving former mill-town/college-town where like a character from Cheers, "everybody knows [his] name..."

What's your favorite public radio show?

This is such a hard question for me. It really depends upon my mood. Sometimes, it's Fresh Air, or Car Talk, or Selected Shorts, or Prairie Home Companion, or This American Life.

What's your secret talent?

If I told you, I'd have to... nah, I shouldn't say that. My "secret talent" would have to be how vocally malleable I am. I can pick up accents quickly and change my voice severely at the drop of a hat. This also includes the ability to do impressions. (I can't believe I am admitting that! Sheesh!)

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

I never knew them as Music Wedgies. I always thought of them as Ear Worms. Anyway, at the moment, I am being bombarded by a compilation of NPR Themes: Fresh-All-Things-Selected-Thistle-Talk-Worldwide

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

The gasp of disbelief anytime Governor Romney's presidential campaign is mentioned.

What's your favorite sound memory?

The haunting sound of Klezmer music that is the imagined soundtrack of my childhood.
