I'm Catherine Cuellar, an award-winning journalist. Among my honors? "Best
Halloween Costume," when I dressed as Elliott from E.T. — wearing my red hoodie,
riding my 1972 Schwinn 3-speed cruiser, and bribing judges with Reese's Pieces. And that was just two years ago! As a child, I won a plane trip to Disneyland on the "Duck One" with Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Minnie. Then last year, I sang at Carnegie Hall. But I haven't always been so lucky. I broke my ankle in the U.S. days prior to my scheduled departure for a hike across Africa. (I went anyway.) I also rollerbladed into a tree, giving myself a black eye on the eve of a job interview. (I didn't get an offer.) However, I don't see those missteps (or rather, mis-skates) as accidents; I prefer to think of myself as "opportunity-prone." Now I'd like to hear and tell your stories as the voice of the Public Radio Talent Quest. While you ponder voting for me, I have just one question: Want some Reese's Pieces?- What's your favorite public radio show?
