I am a 38 year old mother of 1 (10 year old daughter), & ex-step-mom of another (15 year old). Last year, I went back to school to learn what buttons to not push when operating a board. Prior to that, I was an innkeeper w/ my own small bed & breakfast. I met (mostly) great folks, from all over the globe. I grew up here in Connecticut. The folks here are mostly nice - ergo, no need to relocate, as of yet. I'm still looking for the safest place on the planet.
- What's your favorite public radio show?
I groove on The Faith Middleton Show, here on Connecticut Public Radio. Her 'Food Schmooze' Wednesdays are fabulous. I also love 'This American Life', 'Michael Feldman's...', Terry Gross, & would die w/o 'Wait... Wait... Don't Tell Me' - I live for Mo Rocca/Paula Poundstone double-headers. My radio is NEVER off, & I also enjoy 'Talk of The Nation' - especially Science Friday - & the recent introduction of 'World Cafe' to our local programming.
I taught my African Grey parrot (Cyrano) the themes to 'All Things Considered', 'Talk of The Nation', & 'Food Schmooze'. When he "went camping" last summer, we found him because he was whistling the 'ATC' theme, the next morning. The other lost parrots on our street couldn't do that.
*I totally forgot that I was able to diagnose the the profoundly FUBAR status of my transmission (car - not *me*), thanks to Cartalk. My father was shocked. They need to have Martha back on... As the "Anti-Martha", I really appreciated that.
- What's your secret talent?
Turns out I can talk to a tree stump, & it will eventually talk back - if only to tell me to shut up.
- What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?
Barry White is earworming me to death, presently. If I hear 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe' 1 more time, I'm firing the cerebral DJ.
- What sound is most characteristic of where you live?
The VFD siren, when there are fires or peeps bump into stuff (between 2 casinos - drunk/hung-over, broke people are frequently distracted on the road).
- What's your favorite sound memory?
Probably my daughter's first cry.
"Case Dismissed" wasn't bad, either.
- Which station do you listen to most?
- WNPR (CT) & WSUF - I flip between both.
