Bio: Born to a very odd couple in Fresno, CA in 1976. Read Sassy Magazine, attended a women's college, took up improv. Lives and loves in Austin, Texas.
What's your favorite public radio show?: Wiretap, which is on CBC but has made its way down to these American parts. I have been assailing Canadians with the question "DO YOU LISTEN TO WIRETAP??" for a while now. It's just that quirky and wonderful.
What's your secret talent?: I am really good at memorizing number sequences, such as area codes. I still remember the telephone numbers of my elementary school friends.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: "Hot in the Airport" by Y. Bhekhirst. If you know of it, it's probably in your head, too. It's like gum in your hair!!!
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: The sound of a live band at the checkout of your local grocery store. Boop. Boop. Twangity twang twang (usually a blues band). Boop. Paper or plastic?
What's your favorite sound memory?: When my family moved when I was 14, I took a tape recorder and went around the house and recorded the sounds of the doors closing, the toilet flushing, the faucet running, etc. I knew I'd miss my house and the familiar sounds it made.
Which station do you listen to most?: Equal parts KUT and KOOP. But I also love KEXP in Seattle and my beloved WOZQ in Northampton, MA.
