Bio: Jim Grollman got his MFA in Acting from Catholic University. He moved out to LA five years ago to be an actor and has appeared in may tv shows including "Malcolm in the MIddle," "Becker," and "NYPD Blue," he is most proud though being a teaher at Cerritos Community College, where he teaches Stand-up. He grew up In Washington, D.C. and goes back frequently to do theatre.Jim recently made a documentary about how stand-up changed his students lives, it is called "freaks of Laughter," and won jury award for best documentary at the Beverly Hills Shorts festival. Jim hopes to continue this profile of his students on the radio.And also the ins and outs of making it as a stand-up comic.
What's your favorite public radio show?: Prairie Home Companion and All Things Considered. I dont need tv!!!
What's your secret talent?: I am an expert clarinet player although haven't played in years.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: Just finished doing the musical Godspell so "Day by Day," is stuck in my head.
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: Noise of traffic outside my window
What's your favorite sound memory?: Fall snowing on a cold winter morning and smell of hot chocalte
