What's your favorite public radio show?

This American Life. Absolutely. So much so that I’d marry Ira Glass without having met him (if he asked), despite the fact that the mere statement completely bombs my credibility. And what kind of girl wants to marry a boy who would marry a girl with no credibility? It’s a vicious cycle, people. But a safe one.

What's your secret talent?

Keeping secrets. No, not the Suzanne Sommers autobiography – mind the un-capitalized “s” in “secrets” – I had nothing to do with that book. Except laugh when I saw it.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

Feist’s Mushaboom. That song has been stuck in my head for weeks – WEEKS, I TELL YOU. But you know what? If I’m going to have a, um, “music wedgie,” (I prefer “ear worm” by the way – it sounds far less like some best-forgotten junior-high trauma and more like the pestilence that it is) I might as well have one that doesn’t drive me batty.

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

The sound of dumbfounded silence after another misuse of the word “irony.” I live in Uptown, there’s a lot of that here.

What's your favorite sound memory?

The warm, scratchy fuzz on my grandpa’s Bill Cosby record – particularly the “Chocolate Cake for Breakfast” monologue.

Which station do you listen to most?

Minnesota Public Radio’s 89.3 The Current. Followed closely by 91.1 – MPR’s news station.
