Bio

Raised in a household bursting with creativity in rural Virginia. Studied German in college. I'm a "trait curious" person who loves acquiring new skills, solving puzzles and digging into innovative projects.

What's your favorite public radio show?

This American Life and Weekend America both hold my interest. I get sucked into Fresh Air regularly. ATC is a staple of my listening diet. I've learned a lot from Marketplace. I catch Car Talk, Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me and The Splendid Table on a regular basis.

What's your secret talent?

I'm a synaesthete. I can build a jigsaw puzzle more swiftly than anyone I know. I can sing a high C. Most of the time.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

The one I use at the end of my entry.

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

Spring peepers; cicadas coming soon.

What's your favorite sound memory?

The distant pulse of a combine harvester working the field behind my childhood home.

My father snoring in the next room on a Sunday afternoon. (I still find the sound of snoring comforting.)
