Bio

Have worked in and around the world of advertising, media, production, radio and television my entire career. It's been an interesting ride, with lots of twists and turns...which is just great, 'cause I think you learn more that way.

And though I mostly ended up directing TV commericals, my first love was always radio. It's simply a more direct, immediate way to communicate.

What's your favorite public radio show?

Can't live without ATC and ME, but for sheer joy and creativity, I love A Praire Home Companion.

What's your secret talent?

I can actually make the "sound of one hand clapping" using one hand, to well, clap.

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

Jake brakes, those annoying mechanisms for slowing down 18-wheelers. Wish I could say it was the sound of a warbler :-)

What's your favorite sound memory?

Loons on a lake in the Adirondacks. Heard them first as a young man at about dusk. Still makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck...which is about the only place I have any left.
