Bio: Rich Le Cropane is a surprisingly communicative alpha geek who has been writing computer software since the Late Middle Ages. His attempts to write in English are more recent and, since joining a writers' group two years ago, have become increasingly coherent. While most of his work is prose, he writes the occasional poem, one of which took first place for Humor in the Chicago Poets & Patrons contest in 2006. Rich lives in Oswego with his very understanding wife and a brace of uppity cats.
What's your favorite public radio show?: No question that This American Life is my favorite show, but Word Jazz comes in a close second.
What's your secret talent?: I can whistle while both inhaling and exhaling, so I never have to stop for breath while performing Wagner.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: Stolen by Dashboard Confessional
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: We're surrounded by maples, so even a light breeze brings up this low, stirring sound of the leaves rustling.
What's your favorite sound memory?: I remember the first time I heard an air raid siren; it's a beautiful, scary sound.
Which station do you listen to most?: WBEZ Chicago.
