Spent my twenties as executive director of a very cool little non-profit restaurant in Portland, Oregon called Sisters of the Road Cafe. Thirties went by in a blur of acting and improv work. The so far forties have been all business: running my own stores while designing the world's next great search engine (no kidding).

What's your favorite public radio show?

MarketPlace. Its energy and tone shows that business doesn't have to be boring. Like a good painting, it has proven able to sneak past the normal unconscious defenses of some of my more "avidly" liberal friends - allowing them to grok that business isn't all bad.
And, of course, who wouldn't love to be telling lame jokes on the Prairie Home Companion? Ba-duh-Bump. Kshh!

What's your secret talent?

I tend to see the big picture better than anyone I know. Sounds pompous... Hell, it is pompous! But true. And during any sort of discussion about politics, culture, business, etc. - I am known as "La Provocateur".

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

You got the wedgie part right! I'd love it to be Pink Floyd's "San Tropez"; but instead it's "gimme the ball, gimme the ball, gimme the ball, yeah!" from "A Chorus Line".

And just like when my little boy brain tried to not think of the devil while I said "the Lord's Prayer" - the effort to drive it out only makes it stronger. Damn brain wedgies...

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

Middle-aged fir trees rubbing up against one another, and the Goldberg Rain Variations.

What's your favorite sound memory?

My dad's voice telling me--after being a particularly bad boy, "No matter what you do, I will always love you, and always be on your side". Believe me, my father was not known for saying such things.
