i'm living in boston now and love this city dearly and intensely. however i lived the first eighteen years of my life in the midwest, first in nebraska and then (for fifteen years) in wichita, kansas. i am proud and protective of what are so often called "the fly-over states" out here on the east coast. i keep going back to school. college for creative writing, grad school for creative writing and now a professional certificate in graphic design. i like drinks you can put limes in, i love my cats and people who know who they are named after. (they are named lennie and ed.) i love a cool breeze that is almost too much and meeting my friends every thursday for drinks at a dive bar.

What's your favorite public radio show?

my favorite is "fresh air." i heard the infamous show with bill o'reilly and the calm and control terry gross displayed awed and impressed me. what i loved most though was the bit of humor i felt from terry gross through the whole show. i have wanted for years to be interviewed by terry gross. but i must also add that if it wasn't for bob edwards, i don't know if my love for npr would be as deep as it is.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

i can hear a second of a song and if it's one i know it's stuck ther, stuck in my head for days and (if i'm alone) i will find myself breaking into song. the one that really gets stuck in my head (sadly, because i certainly am not a fan of the current administration; i heard the song for the first time in "farenheit 911") is the one john ashcroft wrote. "let the eagles soar" or whatever it is. but right now, to answer the question, the song that's stuck there is "i'm all out of love." who sings that again?

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

either my cats meowing somewhere in the apartment or the beeping (19 up, 19 down) of the parking lot gate opening and closing.
