Bio: When I was a kid we used to use my dad's tape recorder and make up our own radio shows and tell stories. As I grew older I thought I wanted to be a journalism communications major and went to Columbia College, only to get there and be freaked out about the small chance of actually making it in television or radio. So I switched colleges and became a Chicago Public School teacher. After having two small boys I became interested in politics and joined a group of folks doing an internet podcast only to find those once lost dreams again.
What's your favorite public radio show?: I just love Fresh Air. I love to hear in depth conversations with interesting people.
What's your secret talent?: I used to be a competitive figure skater. Yes, that means I could spin and jump on ice.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: Edwyn Collins "Never Met a Girl like you Before" this one is brutal. It has a looping track and Edwyn's Bowie-like voice sticks like glue.
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: The Expressway and train and airplane noise.
What's your favorite sound memory?: As a child being woken up to the sound of my dad in the bathroom blasting scotland the brave on his tape recorder as he took a bath.
