Bio: I grew up in North Carolina but haven't lived there in a while. Since leaving there after college, I've lived in Britain, Zimbabwe, New York and recently Los Angeles.
What's your favorite public radio show?: FRESH AIR WITH TERRY GROSS! Also: The World, Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me, Car Talk, Prairie Home Companion, This American Life
What's your secret talent?: I can't pass up an opportunity to make a costume. Last Halloween, my friends and I were a hit at the West Hollywood Carnival where we dressed as major highways (I was the much-hated 405). Other successful costumes have been bridges and tunnels to Manhattan and the Coney Island Cyclone Roller Coaster (do you see a pattern?). I can also make pottery on a potter's wheel and used to be able to play the French horn.
What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?: 'Rehab' by Amy Winehouse ("No, No, No...")
What sound is most characteristic of where you live?: Birds chirping over the murmur of the Santa Monica Freeway "The 10" (wish I could say the surf...)
What's your favorite sound memory?: Listening to rain in the treetops outside my bedroom in my family's house up in the mountains of western North Carolina.
