Bio

I’m a para librarian (That’s a librarian who doesn’t have her Masters yet) in western Massachusetts that works with children and teens. My specialty area is anime, manga, and comics. I’m also huge on Mythology, folklore, and fairy tales. I work several conventions a year, mostly anime but one multi genre. My department is guest relations where I’ve had the privilege of working with and getting to know some of the finest talent in geekdom.

On the side I tour around New England and lecture on aspects of anime, manga, and comics.

I write, and am currently working on my first comic project with two other creators. I have worked as a research assistant on several in progress graphic novel projects as well.

I volunteer doing voice work and writing for the local radio reading service and am currently getting myself back into community theatre.

I also do reviews and commentary on anime and manga for a local podcast at www.secretidentitypodcast.com.

My dream is to act, particularly interested in voice work, and write for a living.

My favorite Geek things: Manga, Anime, Justice League, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Firefly, Star Wars, RPG’s, Star Trek, and Adult Swim animated programming.

Happily married to a wonderful geek guy, we can be found cosplaying at many a con, and in our down time try to best each other at Diablo and Justice League Heroes.

What's your favorite public radio show?

This American Life hands down. I love how Ira takes so many different stories and weaves a tapestry of what our country is like from all sides. Its one of the few shows that can make me laugh and cry in the same hour. His choices of topics, and subjects has always struck me as so wonderfully balanced, and he treats everyone with such respect.

Second fave is Fresh Air with Terry Gross. She is a wonderful interviewer, and I love to hear the authors on her show…I always choose great reading from the people she talks to.

What's your secret talent?

Voice Over and acting. I think I’m very good for an armature, with much room for improvement as I train. I have some wonderful VA talent to look up to, and learn from, and I think someday I will be able to use my voice in some way. Even if I don’t make a living at it, I really want to do it anyway.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

"White and Nerdy" Weird Al Yankavik

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

Traffic, with an over lay of birds and the wind in the trees.

What's your favorite sound memory?

My late father playing guitar and singing Beatles and Joni Mitchell, and Pretenders, and myself singing with him.

Which station do you listen to most?
WFCR and WAMC
