I was born and raised on Long Island, NY. My family was big on camping which is how I came to see 43 of the 50 states before I was 18. Went to college twice, both times in the Midwest but many years apart. I now have bookend degrees, one B.A and one B.S. After 18 years in the corporate world, my employer was kind enough to downsize me out of a job which led me to that second degree and the decision to pursue a career both fun and meaningful in radio.

What's your favorite public radio show?

Hmmm, that's a tough one. On one hand there's "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me" for pointing out the flaws and foibles of the prominent with such humor. On the other hand is "Weekend Edition Saturday" with Scott Simon's unique style of interviewing and story presentation.

What's your secret talent?

For some reason I have never been able to fathom, I seem to have the ability to interact with people others find odd. This has come in very handy on more than one occasion.

What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?

Trevor Hurst's cover of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". It is NOT your traditional rendition!

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

This time of year? Lawnmowers. Suburbia has an ungodly fascination with yard maintainence!

What's your favorite sound memory?

While hiking Squaw Peak in Montana I stopped to take a break about two-thirds of the way up. I realized that not only could I not see a single sign of humans, I couldn't hear one either. Not a car, an airplane, the hum of electric wires, nothing. With just the breeze moving through the pines, I realized how rare the moment was in a world so filled with manmade sounds.
