Dan Kramer is a freelance radio journalist/ producer. 2007 has a been a very busy year for him with a feature on Edie Sedgick (Studio 360), Kristin Hersh and Empire Roller Dome (Weekend America) and Remembering Biggie (BBC 1Xtra) all being broadcast this year. Last year he produced a feature on Bed Bugs for WNYC’s Morning Edition as well as exclusive features on Wolfmother and George Clinton for PRX.

Before Moving to New York, Dan lived in London where he presented and produced 2 weekly radio programs for Total Rock and has produced a number of documentaries for the BBC. These included a 4-part series on Nirvana, The History of Trip Hop in Bristol and Destiny’s Child. While working at the BBC, Dan created specialty hour-long programs, including Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden) speaking with Slipknot, Ministry and Dave Mustaine (Megadeath) as well as Tom Robinson in Conversation with Tori Amos. He has also created short radio packages for The Music Biz that have been broadcast on BBC World Service. These features included Blur, Grandaddy, Sepultra, John Fruciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Kurt Cobain 10th anniversary and the 25th anniversary of 4AD (label). Dan produced a feature-length documentary film on the late 80’s Boston scene, including interviews with the Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Throwing Muses, Buffalo Tom, and the founding members of Fort Apache Studios.

Dan is currently producing a documentary on NWA for BBC 1Xtra as well as hosting a music trivia in New York

What sound is most characteristic of where you live?

construction and traffic

What's your favorite sound memory?

The sound of leaves falling and hitting the ground as I am walking home on a chilly October night. In the background I hear televisions and dogs barking, but the leaves will always dominate.
