I'm over-educated and under-employed
(Columbia Grad School of Journalism), (freelance multimedia journalist).I'm from Boston but I live in New York.
My writing has appeared in the Washington Post and I've produced radio pieces for "Marketplace," the NPR business show.
Public Radio was the soundtrack of my childhood. I grew up in a household where every radio was tuned to the frequency of our local NPR station.
As a multimedia journalist and consultant, I cannot wait to see how NPR continues to evolve into a multimedia organization--with videos, audio slideshows and increasing interactivity on its Web site.
- What's your favorite public radio show?
How could I possibly choose???
To name a few (in no particular order):
The California Report
Anything Robert Krulwich touches....
Fresh Air
TAL
Car Talk
Marketplace
Speaking of Faith
On the Media
Studio 360
The Sound of Young America
The Onion's faux-news- What's your secret talent?
I played women's ice hockey in college....
- What song is stuck in your head right now, you know, a music wedgie?
"I took a bath with a sociopath," by Anya Marina. Great song.
- What sound is most characteristic of where you live?
Drag queens chatting across the street....
- What's your favorite sound memory?
That's a hard one.
This week, my favorite sound is the ripping of body wax against flesh. I'm working on a piece about unusual careers and shadowed a professional body waxer who works at an upscale mens salon in Chelsea.
- Which station do you listen to most?
- WNYC, WBUR, WGBH
